David Cook published his first two books through the Mystic Crow Publishing name—a natural almanac and a novel for young adults. Although they are sold in a number of bookstores in North Carolina’s Triangle region, he wanted to be able to sell them directly to readers as well.
Dave asked me to build a website that would give prospective customers more information about each of the books and allow them to place orders directly from the site. My solution uses PayPal to handle credit card transactions for security and low cost, and a custom script to manage the shopping experience. It is simple, but effective.
More recently, David’s novel Reservation Nation was awarded the Fabri Literary Prize, and published by Boaz Publishing. He again came to me for a webpage about the new book. It needed to compliment the Mystic Crow site, but be separate and unique as well.
I worked on the e-commerce, template design, XHTML/CSS.
