Catalina Arocena, the artist behind Kasuri Home, came to me looking for a commercial and a personal website tied together by a common layout. As a designer herself, she had a very specific design in mind. I worked with her to adapt her concept to the capabilities and constraints of the web.
Together we tried a number of layouts, color schemes, and interaction models before settling on one that gives prominence to the product photographs while still allowing for background information and individual product descriptions. This design was extended to Catalina’s personal site, which showcases her paintings and drawings. Both sites are controlled thought the same content management system, allowing her to easily make updates and add new products.
An integral part of the solution I created was a custom-built invoicing and payment system. Kasuri Home generally works exclusively on custom orders, so she needed a way to send invoices to her clients, which they could then view and pay through the KasuriHome.com website. It was important that the invoicing system be easy to use, both on the administrative side for entering the invoices and on the client side for paying them. We achieved that goal, while keeping things flexible enough to easily add new features as they are needed in the future.
I worked on the client-side coding, CMS setup, e-commerce, application programming, information architecture, XHTML/CSS.
