Usually you can see the whole city from the top of Spencer Butte, but with the snowstorm on Sunday, we only got this one glimpse before the clouds closed in again.

I just found a memory card of photos I took on my road-trip from Michigan back to Oregon this summer, which I had never imported. I will be posting a few over the coming days.

I don’t remember exactly where this was… somewhere in south-western Wyoming. I had slept in my car the night before—it being grizzly bear territory—and woke up to the sunrise. Cerie had been trapped in the car for most of the past several days, and had a lot of energy to get out before we started driving again.

Between Eugene and Bend, Highway 242 passes through miles and miles of black lava, with just a few trees and squirrels living on it. Amanda, Cerie, and I found a place to pull over and hike up a bit. The rough chunks of lava makes a sound like hollow glass-shards with each step. Don’t fall!
